I am a Freelance General Manager and Producer with over 15 years’ experience of working in administration and operations in the arts and cultural sector specialising in Festival Administration, funding and audience development. I am highly organised and deliver excellent standards in the smooth running of a business.

In the field of administration, I have experience of setting up and implementing office systems and processes, including HR and Recruitment, development of policy documents, staff handbooks, staff contracts (permanent and freelance) business planning/strategy, interviewing fundraising and project coordination.   • I managed schools bookings for workshops and events ensuring activities were marketed, organised and those attending informed and briefed.

Operations Manager

  • During the transition from Arts Council England to an independent delivery organisation I led the company incorporation, managed the office move and the setting up of new Bright Space HR and operations systems and procedures within a 3 month period: January 2008 with Bright Space was fully operational on 1 April 2008.
  • Through my effective governance of the company as Company Secretary, the board were effective, informed and met regularly.
  • During the incorporation of Bright Space I managed the communications strategy of the company, including the commissioning/tendering, management and implementation of the website, writing and updating of content and case studies and the database, in order in terms of brand and impact.
  • I oversaw the Operations and HR functions of the company – devising and managing a full complement of HR, Legal and office policies, including recruitment procedures, advertising and selection, contracting of permanent and freelance staff, my in house provision of this function was more cost effective for the company, as well as being diplomatic, perceptive and fair in my approach.
  • I supervised a budget of up to £1.4 million which meant the company has had good cash-flow, remained on project targets and that contracted payments were more efficient and secure.

  • I strongly supported the Creative Learning Manager in the delivery of a large scale outdoor project called FEED ME resulting in a sit down meal on an allotment for 200 people.  My solid organisation skills and anticipation of requirements meant the event ran smoothly and was a great success for the company and less demanding for the manager.
  • I recruited and managed a team of 15 volunteers – this ensured the successful running of the event.
  • I delivered this role while also supporting the ACE decibel showcase therefore requiring me to have excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • I provided support and coordination in the delivery of artist surgeries and 1-2-1 meetings resulting in better applications and smoother application process.

October 2003 –April 2006.

  • I provided the co-ordination and centralised communication of the disparate, multi-location arts programme which resulted in better overview across the company and improved project planning and tracking from team to team.
  • My high level administrative support for and across the Programme and Business groups meant that the senior management team were well informed and could focus more time on objectives, than spent in meetings.
  • I provided PA support to the Creative Director, who became more obtainable within the company following my appointment.

  • My excellent organisational planning and implementation of booking for a National Theatre in Education tour meant practitioners arrived at venues on time, the full complement of performances were fully booked deeming it a success.
  • Through my evaluation interviews, focus groups and school visits a report was submitted to the sponsor resulting in an extension to the original 3 year sponsorship for a fourth year and a research and development study commission.
